Bradenton 7 - St. Lucie 5



The Bradenton Marauders scored three runs with two outs in the sixth to rally past the St. Lucie Mets 7-5 on Sunday at McKechnie Field.

The Mets trailed 4-0 after two innings but scored all five of their runs in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. Jhoan Urena singled home Amed Rosario to put the Mets on the board, and later in the inning Yeixon Ruiz ripped a bases-loaded triple to tie the game 4-4.

Ruiz scored on Michael Conforto’s ground out to give the Mets a brief 5-4 lead.

It unraveled for the Mets in the sixth. Reliever Ricky Knapp struck out the first two batters of the inning but then surrendered a single to Edwin Espinal and an RBI triple to Wyatt Mathisen that tied the game. Michael Fransoso followed two batters later with the go-ahead single.

The Marauders added an insurance run later in the sixth when Knapp committed a balk with a runner on third.

Ryan Hafner pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth. The Mets had one last chance in the ninth but couldn’t cash in after a positive start to the frame.

Urena started the ninth by reaching on an error. Colton Plaia singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. However, Victor Cruzado couldn’t get down a sac bunt and eventually hit into a double play. Clario Perez struck out Champ Stuart to end the game.

Julio Vivas got the win while Knapp took the loss.

Mets starter Logan Taylor gave up four runs in five innings in the no decision. He blanked the Marauders over his last three innings.

Stuart and Conforto each extended their hitting streaks to four games with singles.
