Sacramento 2 - Las Vegas 0

The Sacramento River Cats secured a series split with the Las Vegas 51s Friday night with a 2-0 victory. Robert Coello had a gutsy performance, pitching 6 shutout innings while Trevor Brown provided the big blow for the offense.
Coello threw 6 shutout innings while allowing just 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 6. The 51s put pressure on Coello a number of times, putting runners on second and third with two outs in the second and again with one out in the fifth, but could not push a run across home. Coello battled with Las Vegas, but ultimately held them hitless (0-for-7) with runners in scoring position and stranded 9 runners on base.
In his first at bat back since being recalled from the disabled list, Brown hit a solo home run in the second inning to give Sacramento an early 1-0 lead. Overall, Brown was 1-for-4 in his return. Brett Jackson's eighth inning infield single scored Darren Ford for the team's second run.
Overall, the River Cats had only 5 hits on the night but were 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The River Cats almost added a third run on a single by Ehire Adrianza in the eighth, but Carlos Triunfel was tagged out on a close play at home.
The Sacramento bullpen did their job once again as they held the lead for Coello, pitching a combined 3 innings of relief. Cody Hall pitched a shutout seventh and Eric Cordier followed with the eighth. Cordier ended the inning on a 98 mph fastball to strike out Las Vegas' Travis Taijeron.
Michael Broadway picked up the save after allowing one run but stranded the tying run on third and struck out Cory Vaughn to end the ballgame. Broadway is 4-for-4 on save opportunities this season, and the River Cats as a team are 10-for-11.
Matz was strong for the 51s, going 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs (both earned) on just 3 hits, walking 2 and striking out 9. Matz allowed just 1 hit through the first seven innings before Sacramento got to him for a run on 2 hits in the eighth.Team Press Release
