Tom Brennan - TOP 25 METS' PROSPECTS: # 19 DAVE ROSEBOOM

Tom Brennan - TOP 25 METS' PROSPECTS: # 19 DAVE ROSEBOOM
Dave Roseboom - like good, old reliable Paul Sewald, Dave is also not a blazing reliever.  Like good, old reliable Paul Sewald, Roseboom's lack of extreme velocity did not hinder him either.
The 6'2" 225 pound lefty (drafted in the 17th round in 2014) had a phenomenal AA season in 2016.  I don't know what else you'd call 52 games, a 1.87 ERA, a K per inning, a tiny 0.90 WHIP and an almost perfect 14 of 15 saves.  I call it phenomenal.
Overall in his 3 year career,  he is 5-3, 2.29 with 26 of 29 saves.  In other words, he has gotten it done.  Almost every time.  Which is what you want from your relievers.  As close to perfect as possible.
Turning 25 during the season in 2017, he will face the "challenge that is Las Vegas", and hopefully he will be up to that task and have another great year.

If injuries strike our major league lefty pen guys in 2017, Dave may get the call. Having "Phenomenal" at the top of your resume is always a plus.
THE BOOMER!  YEAH!

Morning Tom.

Roseboom is a quality pick on your list.

He’s the perfect example of a late round pick that started in a small school and produced marginal numbers. The Mets immediately converted him to a closer and his K/9 went from a 6.00+-K/9 average in school to a (so far) 9.31 in the pros.

Not a big fastball (88-92), but relies on a quality slider.

I see him becoming the Las Vegas closer out of camp and joining other quality relievers (Paul Sewald, Logan Taylor) that will be looking for a bump up to Queens.
