UPDATE - RP - Jerry Blevens

It was announced late last night that the Mets have re-signed relief specialist, LH Jerry Blevens, to a one-year (yay!) deal, with a team option (double yay!). The contract is said to be worth $6mil for the 2017 season.

Mack - With the addition of Fernando Salas and Blevens... well, all of a sudden we have our bullpen back.

It will feature Jeurys Famila, Addison Reed, Hansel Robles, Salas, and Blevens.

In addition, my guess is it will round out with Josh Edgin, Josh Smoker, and Erik Goeddel.

And, as I said in a previous Salas post, it will allow Paul Sewald and Logan Taylor a full year at AAA to mature.

Lastly, both the Salas and Blevens signings take the pressure off of converting either Robert Gsellman or Seth Lugo to a reliever.

Both great moves right before pitchers and catchers are due to report.

I must admit I again was a little hasty with my frustration regarding the bullpen...so Sandy I must give you props and also I'll try to be more patent but being a real long time Met fan it's really hard to do.

Once they pass their physicals on Monday, 2 players must be dropped from the 40. It won't be easy to choose, since we no longer have the Campbell-type players there.

Who should go?
